A strong wind dominated this match, but it was Mens Own that used the conditions to their advantage. A rolling maul led to the visitors taking the lead when Craig Wilson had the ball in hand when the pack drove over the line to score a try. With Ryan Duffy and Adam Baker both in fine form in the backs, Mens Own retained their slim lead until the break.

Rob Hawtin in his farewell game before going off to university showed his class as he stamped his authority on the game, the pressure leading to Mark James kicking two penalties to take Mens Own into a 11 point lead. The home side eventually got on the score sheet with an unconverted try, but it was not enough and Mens Own gained sweet revenge for their earlier season loss to Aylestone.
