This league match at Ashton was dominated by a strong wind blowing down the pitch, which Brackley, with the wind on their backs did not use to their advantage, Mens Own taking the lead with a try by Phil Burn. The visitors replied with a penalty that was soon cancelled out by a Mark James penalty. Brackley kicked another penalty just before the break to give them a one point deficit at half time. With the wind in their favour, and the Mens Own front row led by Nick Briddon who was in powerful form, Mens Own expected to race to victory, but it was Brackley that took the lead with a penalty. This spurred Mens Own into action with tries by Dan Heath, Lee McDonald, Carl Ellis and Craig Wilson. Mark James kicking two conversions. The final result was a fair reflection of the game and will will give Mens Own hope for next week when they entertain Towcestrians in the Northants Alliance Cup. This match is being played on Sunday 9th December at Ashton, kick off is at 1400.
