Playing against a blustery wind, Mens Own soon made their mark on this league game when Dan Heath forced his way over the line for the opening try. The home side fought back with a penalty and a try before the break and held a lead of 8-5 at the interval. With the wind on their backs, Mens Own piled the pressure onto a struggling Oadby XV with Carl Ellis scoring one of his trademark poachers tries, Mark Newton was on form with the boot and scored a penalty, a try and two conversions, Lee McDonald putting the icing on the cake with a fine try under the posts.
Oadby scored a late converted try to make the score more respectable, but in reality there was only ever one side in this game.
